Planning, planning, planning

So it has been just over a week into 2017 and time is flying by already. I have so much I want to do before going back to work, but I felt like I wasn’t really getting anywhere… so I brought a diary and have started planning.

My husband couldn’t understand why I needed to buy a paper diary when I could just use my phone. He is the type of person who loves technology and is constantly showing me a multitude of apps that could make lists, appointment etc. But for me there is just something about writing things down on paper that really appeals to me and my organisation process.

I am a pretty organised person especially at work, however after reflecting on last year, I realised I wasted a lot of time outside of work. Most days I would get home and relax on the couch make dinner and watch TV, often justifying this routine with the excuse that my day at work was to exhausting to do anything else. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I will need those days, but I just had that routine far to often last year and really want to accomplished something a little more valuable with this time.

I realise that time is the most valuable resource, it is limited and if I don’t invest it wisely I know I will regret it in the future.

To make the most of my time this year, I have to plan and set goals. Now I can imagine some eye rolls and sighs, some people think “just live your life and what will be will be”, which is an absolutely fine way to live, but I have become the type of person who needs targets and an action plan. I guess this has developed more intensely since becoming a teacher and guess I just like that feeling of achievement when you meet your target.

My aim for this week is to have my goals sorted by the end of the week (yes I have planned to plan lol) and I have done a little bit of planning already:

My husband and I have already sat down and sorted our financial goals and created a financial plan for the year.

I have written a list of jobs I want done around the house for the year and started ticking things off by fixing the automatic garage door and I am currently plastering and painting the hallway.

I have started thinking about how I am going to create more art work, I have a few ideas on developing my own style, need to start drawing the ideas up.

I am committed to making a regular blog post (think this will be easier when I get back to work and I will schedule a set time to complete and will have more stuff to talk about).

All these goals will be written into my new diary (love typo btw) and I will start setting checkpoints and smaller targets. Will let you know how I get on in my next post (scheduled in my diary for Friday 20th Jan lol)
